Training with Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) is conducted on an annual basis within the Plymouth FD. This training allows members to maintain proficiency in using SCBA, so that it's use becomes second nature when operating on the fireground. |

Evolutions were conducted outside at our Training Facility with the firefighters wearing their SCBA. Throwing ladders against a building is made more difficult while wearing a 20lbs. breathing apparatus.

The members were all instructed to move a tire approximately 60 feet with a 12 lbs. sledgehammer while being "on air". The strenuous activity of the evolution helps condition the firefighters to control their breathing while wearing SCBA. |

At the final outside evolution, members were instructed to climb a ladder and walk the perimeter of the Training Facility then descend the ladder to finish out the evolution. This was done while being "on air" as well. |
